The Journey Begins. Gastric Bypass, Vegetarianism and Gardening......Hang On !

OK, here we go. So, I've been a fat guy since birth.  Need I mention the " HUSKY" department of the clothing store?  Diet after diet after weight loss after re-gain. It sucked for 55 years.  Seven years ago I attended my first seminar on bariatric surgery. A room full of fat people and a surgeon explaining all the things that could go wrong and might not. Did I mention the fat people? I mean really fat.....of course I was just pleasingly plump, at 372 pounds. I thought about it for a minute and then decided that I needed a Whopper with cheese and fries and of course diet coke.

Seven years later I had thought enough and decided to go to the same seminar again. Presented by the same surgeon, Dr. Dieter Pohl in Providence RI.  I was convinced that this was the guy I wanted digging around inside my guts. He had done this procedure over 3000 times.  Practice makes perfect.

During a few more diets in between I had lost and regained some more weight before I actually had my first appointment with the Doc. I walked into his office at 343 pounds. At that point the process began.

By the way I HATE vegetables.

More to come on how I'm doing, the fact that I can only eat vegetables and the garden I'm growing in my back yard. Oh yeah....Oatmeal cookies and Indian bean soup........
